EU selects locations for set-up of six additional AI factories
New artificial intelligence (AI) factories will be established in six locations across the European Union next year.
This announcement was made by the European High-Performance Computing Partnership Initiative (Euro HPC) on March 12, Caliber.Az reports.
"New AI production facilities will be built in Austria, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Poland, and Slovenia, with national and European investments totaling approximately €485 million," the statement said.
Additionally, these AI factories will provide priority access to startups, small and medium-sized enterprises in the field, and will foster growth and efficient development in AI.
France and Germany will establish AI Factories alongside Europe’s first exascale supercomputers, Alice Recoque and JUPITER while Austria, Bulgaria, Poland, and Slovenia will deploy AI-optimized systems with AI Factories to further strengthen Europe’s AI infrastructure.
Germany’s AI Factory in Jülich will feature an experimental platform, providing state-of-the-art infrastructure for developing and testing cutting-edge AI models and applications while fostering collaboration across Europe.
These six new AI Factories will join the seven previously selected, forming a connected network of AI hubs designed to drive AI innovation across Europe. Each factory will serve as a one-stop shop, offering startups, SMEs, and researchers access to AI-optimized high-performance computing (HPC) resources, data development support, training, and technical expertise.
