EU takes note of information on BRICS expansion

The European Union takes note of the decision on BRICS enlargement and works individually with the members of this association.

The representative of the EU foreign policy service Peter Stano made the statement at a press conference in Brussels, TASS reports.

"The EU is not a member of BRICS. We take note of this development," he said.

According to Stano, the EU has established individual contact with BRICS members and is working "with them individually."

On August 22, US presidential national security aide Jake Sullivan made a statement that the White House does not consider BRICS as a geopolitical rival. He specified that it is "a very diverse group of countries."
