German FM: Violence must not shift borders
Violence must not shift borders, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul stated, speaking about international efforts to resolve multiple crises.
Wadephul underlined the importance of having a voice in matters where European security is impacted, highlighting close coordination with EU and transatlantic partners in support of Ukraine, Caliber.Az reports via the minister’s post on X.
Wadephul expressed backing for US President Donald Trump’s goal to end Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, stressing that the outcome must be a just and lasting peace.
He noted that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has held several discussions with Trump and plans to consult on August 13 with the US president, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, EU representatives, and NATO partners.
Furthermore, Wadephul called for an end to the catastrophic situation in Gaza and urged for sufficient emergency aid to reach the affected population. He stated that peace can only be achieved if Hamas releases hostages, which requires a ceasefire to facilitate humanitarian goals.
