Serbian PM plans cabinet shake-up to oust pro-Russian officials
Serbian Prime Minister Đuro Macut is reportedly preparing a major cabinet reshuffle that would see the dismissal of several key pro-Russian officials from his administration.
The move, said to be taking place under increasing pressure from Western allies, could signal a shift in Belgrade's geopolitical alignment, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
According to the Serbian source, the dismissals are expected early next week and will include Milos Andjic, chief of staff and national security advisor, Aleksandra Nikolic, senior foreign policy advisor, Ana Jovancic, deputy chief of staff, and Biljana Bogicevic, senior advisor.
“These individuals are considered pro-Russian politicians and previously served in the cabinet of former Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin,” the source said.
"All of them are Serbian security officials with a background in security agencies, who started their careers at the Interior Ministry," the source added.
The planned purge is reportedly aimed at removing officials who could obstruct potential future government decisions that may not align with Russian interests. "If these people are dismissed, there will be no one left in the government to prevent the adoption of decisions aimed against Russia,” the source added.
Despite the scale and implications of the reshuffle, the source emphasized that Serbian President is not involved in the process. “Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić is not par of this process ,” the source clarified.
