EU voices concern over reported US plans to ban diesel exports

The European Union is concerned about the United States’ reported plans to ban diesel exports, warning that such a disruption could negatively affect both sides, European Commission spokesperson Olof Gill said.

“High-level contacts between the European Union and the U.S. administration are ongoing. We expect close partners to consult each other before taking measures that affect shared markets,” Gill told reporters, as cited by Reuters.

Earlier, POLITICO reported that the United States was considering a 90-day ban on diesel exports amid rising prices ahead of the midterm elections. US Energy Secretary Chris Wright denied reports that a ban was being prepared, saying the administration was considering voluntary measures instead.
