EU wants to integrate defence industry with India, Australia — RIA Novosti

The European Union is studying the possibility of integrating its defence industry with India, Russia's news outlet RIA Novosti reported.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen made the statement at a conference of EU permanent representatives in Brussels.

She added that similar cooperation efforts are also being pursued with Australia.

On February 20, EU Commissioner for Defence and Space Andrius Kubilius said the European Commission is urging European companies to increase weapons production by 50 times.

According to him, achieving this goal would require EU member states to provide guarantees of long-term and stable demand for the defence industry. Kubilius said such measures are necessary “for peace in Europe.”
