Eurasian region to evolve into major player in scientific research, innovation THE Global Affairs Head says
The Eurasian region has developed to become one of the most important regions for global higher education.
This view was expressed by Phil Baty, the Chief Global Affairs Officer of the Times Higher Education (THE) publication in the course of his ongoing visit to Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports.
According to Baty, the Eurasian region has a very important geographical significance, as it is located at the crossroads of East and West. Historically, this geographic position has played a key role in trade, science, and intercultural exchange. the Eurasian region already has the infrastructure and conditions in place for conducting significant research.
He pointed to the fact that the THE Eurasian University Summit is being held in this region for the first time, which will run through September 24-25. It is being co-organized by Azerbaijan's State Agency for Science and Higher Education together with THE in support with Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Science and Education.
The education executive also expressed his belief that the Eurasian region will play an important role in terms of scientific research and innovation, adding that Azerbaijan plays a leading role in the Caucasus and Central Asia. He emphasized that every year, more and more Azerbaijani universities are being included in international rankings.
