Euronews CEO: Journalism is not just business — “it’s a calling”

Journalism is not simply a business or a profession - it is a calling, says Claus Strunz, CEO and Editorial Director of Euronews.

Speaking at the international media forum Islamic Civilisation: A New Perspective – New Discoveries in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Strunz stressed the importance of cooperation among journalists worldwide, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

According to him, international cooperation and the exchange of experience among journalists and media professionals play an important role in responsibly shaping the future.

"Meeting one another means creating the future in the right and responsible way," he noted.

Strunz maintained that media organisations around the world should work together and highlighted the importance of international cooperation in journalism.

He also noted that Euronews is participating in this year's International Media Forum as a media partner.

The Euronews CEO wished success to the forum, which has brought together media representatives, experts and practitioners from various countries.

Concluding his remarks, Strunz quoted Mirza Ulugh Beg on the importance of knowledge and scientific heritage: "Religions disperse like fog, empires destroy themselves, but the work of a scholar remains forever. The pursuit of knowledge is everyone's duty."
