Euronews: France ready to deploy forces to Ukraine in event of ceasefire
France is prepared to deploy multinational forces to Ukraine in the event of a ceasefire, with the issue set to be discussed at today’s summit of the Coalition of the Willing in Paris, Euronews reports.
The outlet said plans reportedly include bilateral legally binding agreements and US participation in monitoring a future truce.
At least 25 heads of state, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, are expected to attend the meeting alongside leaders of the European Union and NATO.
The summit will take place at Paris's Hôtel des Invalides on the eve of Bastille Day celebrations. French President Emmanuel Macron hopes the events will serve as a symbol of support for Ukraine and what he has described as Europe's "strategic awakening."
Participants are also expected to reaffirm plans to allocate €70 billion in military assistance to Kyiv in 2026, discuss the licensed production of Patriot missiles in Ukraine with US support, and consider the creation of a new European missile defence system involving Ukrainian specialists.
