Europe's security burden tops agenda in high-level US-UK talks

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband on August 5 to discuss a range of security issues, the US State Department said in a statement.

The two officials discussed the importance of strengthening Europe's role in ensuring its own security, Caliber.Az reports.

“Secretary of State Marco Rubio met today with UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband. The two discussed the importance of Europe taking on a greater role in its own security,” the statement said.

The two sides also reaffirmed their shared commitment to ensuring safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and preventing Iran from developing or acquiring nuclear weapons.
