European Commission president confirms no plans to attend Trump's inauguration Due to lack of invitation
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has confirmed that she has no plans to attend the inauguration of US President Donald Trump, as she has not received an invitation.
The statement was made by Paula Pinho, a spokesperson for the European Commission, during a briefing in Brussels, Caliber.Az reports citing Russian media.
When asked about the possibility of attending the inauguration, Pinho stated, “President von der Leyen has no plans to attend Trump's inauguration.”
Regarding whether the European Commission had received an official invitation, Pinho responded, “If there is an invitation, we will see.”
Pinho also addressed von der Leyen’s current health status, confirming that the European Commission president is recovering at home after being diagnosed with pneumonia. A decision on whether von der Leyen will resume work next week will be made on January 13.
Trump’s inauguration is scheduled for January 20.
