Ex-Pakistan PM Imran Khan, wife sentenced to 17 years In Toshakhana 2 case

20 December 2025 11:40

Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, have been sentenced to 17 years in prison each by a Pakistani accountability court in the Toshakhana 2 corruption case.

The case concerns alleged fraud involving state gifts the couple received from the Saudi government in 2021, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.

The items, including luxury watches and diamond and gold jewellery sets, were reportedly sold without being deposited in the Toshakhana, Pakistan’s official state gift repository.

Special court judge Shahrukh Arjumand delivered the verdict at Rawalpindi’s high-security Adiala Jail. The court handed Khan and Bushra 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment under Section 409 (criminal breach of trust) of the Pakistan Penal Code, and a further seven years under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Both were also fined PKR 16.4 million.

The Toshakhana 2 case was filed in July 2024. Bushra Bibi had been granted bail by the Islamabad High Court in October 2024, followed by Khan a month later. Both were indicted in December 2024.

The trial continued at Adiala Jail, where the couple is already serving sentences following earlier convictions in the Al-Qadir Trust case. Both now have the right to appeal the convictions in Pakistan’s High Court.

The verdict adds to a series of legal battles facing Khan, who remains a central figure in Pakistan’s political landscape despite his ousting from office.
