Ex-Virginia official allegedly kills wife before taking own life

Former Virginia Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax and his wife, Cerina, were found dead in their home in Annandale, CNN reports, citing county police.

According to law enforcement authorities, Fairfax shot his wife before taking his own life.

Their minor children were in the house at the time of the incident. The couple’s son called the police to the scene of the tragedy.

Investigators are considering the possibility that the incident may be linked to a prolonged divorce process. It is reported that shortly before the tragedy, the court had granted custody of the children to the mother.
