Experience the skies: Dreamliner flight simulator debuts in Baku's F1 festivities

14 September 2024 17:07

Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) has thrilled aviation enthusiasts by unveiling an advanced Boeing 787 Dreamliner flight simulator in Baku during the Formula 1 race festivities.

As the first airline in the region to operate the Dreamliner, AZAL has provided both residents and visitors with the unique opportunity to experience the sophisticated technology of this state-of-the-art aircraft.

Caliber.Az journalist had the chance to "pilot" the simulator, which accurately replicates the Dreamliner’s cockpit, complete with its steering wheels, screens, and navigation displays. The simulator allows users to undertake a virtual landing at Boeing Field in the USA and explore the cutting-edge features of the Boeing 787.

Aviation fans can now experience the Dreamliner’s power and elegance firsthand, offering a glimpse into the technical prowess of this pride of American engineering.

"Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) became the first airline in the region to operate the Dreamliner, and last year they ordered eight more 787 aircraft to expand their fleet. By providing the opportunity to 'steer' such a modern aircraft through the simulator, we aim to inspire and engage the next generation of aviation enthusiasts in Azerbaijan," said Boeing’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Eurasia Paul Righi.

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is known for its fuel efficiency and passenger comfort, boasting features like improved cabin humidity, larger windows, and advanced turbulence reduction technologies. AZAL’s fleet includes the 787-8 model, which accommodates up to 248 passengers and has a range of 13,530 kilometres. This aircraft also aligns with environmental trends, cutting fuel consumption and emissions by 25% compared to previous models.

AZAL plans to expand its fleet with eight additional Boeing 787s by 2030 to continue providing top-tier passenger comfort.
