Kyiv postal terminal explosion classified as terrorist attack UPDATED
An explosion at a postal sorting facility in Kyiv is being investigated as a terrorist act, the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office said on Friday, June 5.
“The explosion at the postal terminal in Kyiv’s Obolon district that occurred this morning has been classified as a terrorist act,” the agency said in a statement posted on its Telegram channel.
The blast, which took place earlier in the day, was initially reported by Kyiv police. Preliminary findings indicate that it occurred during the inspection of a parcel at the facility.
A 59-year-old man was killed in the explosion, while two others, aged 37 and 41, sustained injuries, authorities said. No further details were immediately available on their condition.
Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
