Explosion hits vessel in UAE port following recent Gulf attacks

An explosion occurred on a vessel at the port of Sharjah, the UAE, just hours after a tanker was targeted at another emirate port, CNN reported, citing Iran’s state news agency IRIB.

In recent days, coastal areas of the UAE and the Persian Gulf have faced multiple drone strikes following a series of retaliatory attacks by Tehran on U.S. allies in the region.

Earlier today, March 17, the U.K. maritime agency said a vessel was struck in the Gulf of Oman near the strategic oil port of Fujairah. This marks the 21st ship affected since the start of the U.S.-Israeli joint military operation against Iran on February 28.
