Explosion in Ukraine injures eight, one in serious condition

An explosion followed by a fire at a facility near the city of Rivne in northwestern Ukraine has left eight people injured, local authorities said on April 20.

According to the Rivne Police, one of the injured is in serious condition. The blast occurred at approximately 1:00 p.m. local time on the premises of a facility not associated with chemical production, Caliber.Az reports. 

Officials said the resulting fire has been contained, while emergency services and law enforcement personnel continue to operate at the scene.

Authorities are working to determine the legal classification of the incident and have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the explosion.
