Explosion near mosque in Afghanistan: One dead, three injured

An explosion near a mosque in Mazar-i-Sharif, the administrative center of Balkh province in Afghanistan, has resulted in one fatality and three injuries.

Local media outlet Etilaatroz reported the incident via its Telegram channel.

According to eyewitness accounts, the explosion occurred at approximately 8:20 AM near a mosque belonging to the Shiite community. Some witnesses confirmed the death of a woman and injuries to three others.

The preliminary cause of the explosion is believed to be the detonation of an improvised explosive device (IED) planted earlier. Local authorities have not yet commented on the incident, and further details regarding the victims and the extent of the damage are still being verified.
