17 October 2025 09:20
A series of powerful explosions shook the annexed Crimean Peninsula overnight on October 17, with reports indicating that Ukrainian drones targeted multiple Russian military sites.
According to Unian, several strikes were carried out in the village of Gvardeyskoye, where a large oil depot caught fire after being hit. Residents reported hearing intense gunfire and multiple blasts starting around 2:40 a.m. local time.
Preliminary information suggests that an ammunition depot may also have been struck. Meanwhile, residents of Simferopol, Crimea’s administrative centre, reported at least four loud explosions followed by thick columns of smoke rising over the city.
