Father and daughter in Texas break 16-year fishing record
31 March 2026 06:50
A man from Texas has set a new record for catching white crappie, KETK reports.
In early February, Austin Taylor and his daughter Lily Mae participated in a fishing tournament at Lake Wright Patman. Taylor caught a white crappie weighing 1.29 kg and measuring 40 cm. The fish nearly escaped—falling directly into the net held by Lily Mae after slipping off the hook.
The catch is the largest ever recorded at the lake, breaking a 16-year-old record. Registering the fish took so long that the father and daughter almost missed a dance event they had planned to attend afterwards. In the end, they made it—still wearing the same clothes they had fished in.
