The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has seized computers, phones, and folders containing documents from former U.S. National Security Adviser John Bolton, The Washington Post reports, citing court records.
Bolton is accused of unauthorised possession of classified materials and mishandling information related to national defence. Under U.S. law, such violations carry a maximum prison sentence of up to 10 years.
The court records do not indicate whether the FBI agents found any classified documents during the search of Bolton’s residence or on the two phones, three computers, and two hard drives that were confiscated.
