FedEx seeks billions in refunds after US court invalidates Trump tariffs
A new phase of the tariff dispute is unfolding in the United States after the Supreme Court ruled that duties introduced by President Donald Trump were unlawful.
Logistics giant FedEx has filed a lawsuit with the US Court of International Trade seeking reimbursement of customs duties it previously paid, BILD reports.
The company is demanding a full refund of funds spent on imported goods, with the total amount estimated in the billions of dollars.
The lawsuit marks the first major legal action following the Supreme Court’s decision and could set a precedent for similar claims by other companies. While the court invalidated most of the Trump-era tariffs, the fate of duties already collected remains unresolved. Government data indicate that importers paid more than $130 billion in tariffs.
Legal experts note that the situation remains uncertain. FedEx’s case could prove pivotal in determining the procedure for refunds and the scale of compensation for companies affected by the tariffs.
