Fight against terrorism and extremism tops agenda of Uzbekistan-US talks photo
Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks with a US delegation led by Sergio Gore, the Special Envoy of President Donald Trump for South and Central Asia.
The American delegation also included First Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau and several other senior officials, as per Uzbek media.
During the meeting, both sides discussed the prospects for further strengthening the Uzbek-American strategic partnership, particularly in the context of the agreements reached during high-level talks in New York on September 23 this year.
The parties highlighted the dynamic development of political dialogue, frequent exchanges at various levels, and the expansion of business cooperation.
They emphasised the importance of advancing joint projects in key sectors such as industry, finance, critical minerals, energy, digitalisation, and agriculture, in accordance with the approved bilateral road map.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on pressing global and regional issues. Particular attention was given to deepening cooperation in the field of security, with a focus on countering terrorism, extremism, and illegal migration.
In addition, both sides reviewed the schedule of forthcoming events, including the upcoming C5+1 summit scheduled to take place next week in Washington, D.C.
