Finland allocates €5 million to Ukraine's green recovery programme
The Finnish government has adopted a decision to donate five million euros to the Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO)'s Green Recovery Programme to help rebuild Ukraine in line with climate change.
This was announced by the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs on December 23, Evropeyskaya Pravda reports.
The Green Recovery Programme provides funding and technical assistance to local authorities in Ukraine to implement projects that contribute to post-war reconstruction and address the humanitarian crisis on the way to a more sustainable green transition.
The recovery programme will promote modern, energy-efficient solutions and, in the long term, the green transition of Ukraine by reducing the use of fossil fuels.
"It is very important that reconstruction and rehabilitation also take into account the needs of people with disabilities and gender equality. According to the UN, one in four internally displaced families has a family member with a disability - their access to housing and public buildings must be ensured," commented Ville Skinari, Minister of Development and Foreign Trade of Finland.
The Green Recovery Programme for Ukraine, managed by NEFCO, is a multi-donor initiative. The programme started in July 2022 and its first donors were the EU, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Finland.
