Finland proposes location for NATO base

Finland has proposed to locate NATO's military base in the city of Kauhava in the west of the country.

This is stated in a press release by Mayor Vesa Rantala, writes European Pravda.

He justifies the desire to place the NATO base by the good location of the city from the viewpoint of the Baltic Sea and all Northern countries.

The mayor also points out that the only military airfield in Finland operated in Kauhava until 2015.

It should be noted that at the beginning of this year most Finns did not support creation of permanent NATO bases on the territory of the country.

To recap, Finland became the 31st member of NATO on April 4.
