Finland does not require nuclear weapons during peacetime, President Alexander Stubb stated, Yle reports.
“In peacetime, Finland does not need nuclear weapons,” Stubb emphasized, underscoring the country’s commitment to maintaining a non-nuclear stance.
The president clarified that Finland has no intention of becoming a nuclear power, and that there have been no proposals to station nuclear weapons on Finnish soil.
However, Stubb noted that as a NATO member, Finland should not face limitations regarding nuclear capabilities, while also stressing that Russia does not pose an immediate military threat to the country.
