Finnish FM: EU will not tolerate Trump’s rhetoric toward Iran

Finland and other European Union countries will not tolerate rhetoric by US President Donald Trump directed at Iran, Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen said in an interview with the newspaper Iltalehti.

Valtonen stressed that there remains an opportunity to preserve peace between Washington and Tehran.

“Of course, we cannot under any circumstances accept such statements—if they in themselves pose a threat—or, even more so, what may stand behind them,” she noted.

Finnish FM added that in recent days she has discussed efforts to resolve the Middle East conflict “with colleagues in the region.”

According to her, “there is now a sense of hope in the air.”
