04 June 2025 12:57
The US Coast Guard is responding to a fire aboard the 600-foot (183-meter) cargo vessel Morning Midas approximately 300 miles southwest of Adak, Alaska.
Officials confirmed that no injuries have been reported so far. The ship, carrying 22 crew members, was en route to Lazaro Cardenas, Mexico, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
Registered under the Liberian flag, Morning Midas’ crew has been actively working to contain the fire. The Coast Guard said that aircrews and a cutter ship are on their way to assist, while three other vessels are already on site aiding in the response. Requests for comment sent to the US Coast Guard and the ship’s owner, Hawthorn Navigation Limited, have not yet been answered.
