Fire contained at Belarus’ largest oil refinery, no injuries reported
Firefighters in Belarus have extinguished a blaze at the country’s largest oil refinery, Naftan, located in the northern city of Novopolotsk.
“The fire at the processing plant on the territory of OJSC Naftan has been extinguished,” the Ministry of Emergency Situations said in a statement, Caliber.Az reports.
Authorities deployed 17 units of equipment and more than 70 emergency personnel to the site. The ministry added that inert gases were supplied to the affected area to dilute combustible materials, working in coordination with the refinery’s technical staff. Twelve fire hoses were used to cool both the affected and nearby installations.
No casualties were reported, and the ministry confirmed that the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
