Fire, explosions rock military factory in Bulgaria

A fire followed by explosions occurred at an ammunition factory in the village of Belitsa near the Bulgarian town of Tryavna on August 10, local authorities said.

Tryavna municipal head Dencho Minev said the explosions occurred at warehouses at the facility after a truck caught fire. The area has been cordoned off, and access is prohibited while authorities investigate the cause of the incident, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media. 

The national emergency alert system was activated, and firefighters and police were dispatched to the scene, Minev said.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or injuries.

Bulgarian National Television, citing eyewitnesses, reported seeing a column of smoke and hearing explosions from the area. The incident occurred at around 11:30 a.m. local time.
