Firefighters tackle massive gas cylinder blaze in Poland for 15 hours
Firefighters extinguished a blaze that engulfed 60 cylinders of technical gas in Bydgoszcz, Poland, after 15 hours of work, according to Polish media.
On April 7, an explosion occurred at the bottling facility on Toruńska Street, damaging the valves on the remaining cylinders. Sixty firefighters participated in the operation, and cooling of the cylinders continues, city fire service spokesperson Karol Smarz said.
“If the cylinders do not heat up, we will move them into containers where they will remain submerged in water for at least 24 hours,” he added. A water pipeline from the Brda River was used to combat the fire, alongside drones and two robots. In the coming hours, firefighters will inspect the cylinders and complete their safe transfer.
