First American LNG batch of 2026 reaches Ukraine with Polish assistance

Ukraine has received its first shipment of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States this year. 

The first batch totals nearly 100 million cubic meters, according to a statement released by the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy, Caliber.Az reports.

The delivery was made possible through cooperation between Ukraine's state oil and gas company, Naftogaz, together with the Polish company ORLEN,  which received the American cargo deliveries and proceeded to transfer them. 

The Ukrainian authorities believe that the received volume is sufficient to cover roughly one month of winter consumption for around 700,000 households.

“Additional supplies are especially important amid increased strain on the energy system during cold weather and against the backdrop of Russian attacks on infrastructure,” the ministry noted.

Ukraine plans to import up to 1 billion cubic meters of American LNG throughout 2026, with further shipments expected as early as February and March.
