Five dead, 24 injured in suspension bridge collapse in China VIDEO
A suspension bridge collapse at a popular scenic site in Northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has resulted in five fatalities and 24 injuries, local authorities confirmed on August 6.
The incident occurred at approximately 6:18 p.m. local time (10:18 p.m. GMT+4) in Zhaosu County, located in the Ili Kazak Autonomous Prefecture of northern Xinjiang. According to officials, one of the bridge’s suspension cables snapped, causing the deck to tilt and sending 29 people plummeting from the structure, Caliber.Az reports via Chinese media.

Of the 24 injured, 22 sustained minor wounds, while two remain in serious condition. All injured individuals were swiftly transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. Authorities stated that none of the injuries are considered life-threatening.
