Five internationally wanted persons extradited to Azerbaijan
Over the past months, five people on the international wanted list were extradited to Azerbaijan from Poland, Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus on suspicion of committing crimes such as theft, robbery, drug smuggling on a large scale by an organised group, fraud and forgery of official documents.
Under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, important measures are taken to strengthen stability and security, and improve the fight against crime, in particular, to ensure the principle of compulsory punishment, Report informs via Azerbaijan’s Justice Ministry.
In this context, key importance is attached to international cooperation, effective cooperation within the framework of bilateral agreements, including the extradition of criminals on the basis of multilateral conventions from Europe and the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
"The Justice Ministry’s close business relations with foreign partners, including the representation of the ministry in the leadership of the Committee of Experts for Cooperation in Criminal Matters of the Council of Europe, determine a more effective activity in this area," the ministry said.
