Five killed in Bangladesh train accident after bus stops along tracks
Five people were killed and two others seriously injured when they were struck by a train in Bangladesh’s Tangail district, approximately 97 kilometres from the capital, Dhaka.
The accident occurred around 8:30 p.m. local time on March 27 after a Dhaka-bound bus ran out of fuel and stopped by the roadside. According to Mizanur Rahman, sub-inspector at the Tangail Railway Station outpost, the bus driver and helper left to arrange fuel, leaving passengers waiting, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
Some passengers reportedly got off the bus and either sat on or walked along the nearby railway tracks when a train approaching from Dhaka struck them, the official said.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
