Five killed in fire at fair in Mexico’s Tabasco

Five people were killed in a fire that broke out at an annual fair in Mexico’s Tabasco state, authorities said.

According to Caliber.Az, regional governor Javier May said on X that the fire has now been extinguished.

The governor added that authorities are preparing an economic support program for those affected. The cause of the fire is under investigation and is being examined by law enforcement agencies.

According to the newspaper El Financiero, the blaze destroyed around 200 stalls at the fairgrounds. Visitors were evacuated in an emergency operation.

Preliminary reports indicate that the fire may have been caused by a short circuit in one of the buildings.
