Five killed, three injured after loess collapse in northern China

Five people were killed and three others injured after a sudden loess collapse buried a house in a village in northern China’s Shanxi province on July 24, local emergency authorities said.

The incident occurred at around 6:49 p.m. local time in Haoyi Village, Dicun Township, in Hongtong County, Linfen city, an area located on the Loess Plateau, Caliber.Az reports per Chinese media.

All eight people trapped by the collapse were found during rescue operations involving local police, firefighters and medical personnel. Five were found without vital signs, while the three survivors were hospitalised and were in stable condition, authorities said.
