Five people die in East Kazakhstan mines within 24 hours
Kazakhstan's KAZ Minerals company has announced that five people died as a result of accidents at the Irtysh and Artemievsk mines in East Kazakhstan Region.
Four individuals were found lifeless at the Irtysh mine on August 31 at around 5:30 (GMT+5)—two of them were Irtysh mine employees and the other two were subcontractor workers, Caliber.Az reports, citing the company.
The preliminary cause of death is suspected to be gas poisoning, the statement says. The second incident occurred at night of September 1, when a fall of ground at the Artemievsk mine resulted in fatal injuries to a tunneler from a subcontractor. The circumstances and causes of the accidents are under investigation, and special commissions have been established to conduct the inquiries.
