Five-point Ukraine support plan tops Paris coalition meeting

Leaders of the “coalition of the willing” will convene in Paris on January 6 to discuss five key pillars of continued support for Ukraine, including a potential ceasefire, mechanisms to monitor its implementation, sustained assistance to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and the possible deployment of multinational forces on Ukrainian territory.

The details were disclosed by a representative of the Élysée Palace, speaking on condition of anonymity, Caliber.Az reports, citing Ukrainian media.

“The meeting will make it possible to undertake commitments on five points: a ceasefire and monitoring of its observance, continued support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the format for the deployment of multinational forces on the territory of Ukraine, commitments regarding allied actions in the event of a new Russian aggression against Ukraine, and long-term defence cooperation,” the official said.

According to the Élysée Palace representative, Western troops would not be stationed along the entire line of demarcation, citing its extensive length of approximately 1,400 kilometres. Instead, the coalition is considering the use of drones, satellites and other technical capabilities to monitor developments on the ground, alongside agreed responses should any violations of a ceasefire occur.

Beyond immediate security arrangements, the talks will also focus on long-term support for Ukraine’s military. This includes discussions on the deployment of multinational forces to support Ukraine across air, maritime and land domains, as well as efforts aimed at training and rebuilding Ukrainian forces over the longer term.
