Foreign leaders congratulate Iran’s new president-elect
Following the election of veteran parliamentarian Massoud Pezeshkian as Iran's new president, several international leaders have extended their congratulations, expressing hopes for strengthened relations and future cooperation.
Azerbaijan
President Ilham Aliyev emphasized the longstanding ties between Azerbaijan and Iran, built on common religious and cultural roots. Aliyev noted, “It is gratifying that over the past decades, our mutually beneficial cooperation has developed dynamically.”
He expressed confidence in further strengthening the friendly relations and expanding cooperation in various fields, including economy and energy. Aliyev also extended an invitation to Pezeshkian to visit Azerbaijan to discuss bilateral relations.
Serbia
President Aleksandar Vučić highlighted the Iranian people's trust in Pezeshkian’s vision for the future, stating, “Your victory reflects citizens' trust in your vision for the future, dedication to peace, and desire for your country's progress.”
Vučić expressed confidence in Pezeshkian’s leadership to bring prosperity and well-being to Iran.
Uzbekistan
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev assured that under Pezeshkian’s leadership, Tehran and Tashkent would reach new heights in multilateral and long-term cooperation.
He noted that “Iran has many potentials and capabilities that have been dynamically developing in recent years,” and expressed optimism for continuous and effective expansion of cooperation in various fields.
Türkiye
President Tayyip Erdogan congratulated Pezeshkian, wishing him success and expressing hope that the election results would be a source of blessing for the Iranian nation. Erdogan emphasized that Iran and Türkiye’s cooperation would be strengthened during Pezeshkian's presidency.
South Korea
The South Korean government, through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed hopes for improving bilateral relations with Iran.
“We wish Iran a path of prosperity and development under the new government, contributing constructively to regional stability,” the ministry stated.
Iraqi Kurdistan
President Nechirvan Barzani and Prime Minister Masrour Barzani of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region also extended their congratulations, looking forward to advancing Erbil-Tehran ties. Nechirvan Barzani said, “We look forward to developing the long-standing friendly relations and continuing cooperation.”
Shanghai Cooperation Organization
Secretary General Zhang Ming congratulated Pezeshkian, wishing for Iran’s continued success on the international stage and expressing the SCO’s commitment to cooperating with Iran for regional security and mutual success.
Algeria
President Abdelmadjid Tebboune welcomed the “brotherly ties and bilateral cooperation” between Algeria and Iran. He emphasized the determination to develop ties based on mutual interests.
Yemen
Chairman Mahdi Al-Mashat and spokesman Mohammed Abdul-Salam of Yemen’s Ansarullah congratulated Pezeshkian, highlighting the importance of strengthening relations between Yemen and Iran for the benefit of both nations.
Armenia
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also congratulated Pezeshkian, signaling continued cooperation between Armenia and Iran.
