Former France footballer questioned in drug trafficking, money laundering probe
Former French international footballer Samir Nasri has been questioned by investigators as part of an inquiry into alleged drug trafficking, criminal conspiracy, and money laundering, French newspaper Le Parisien reported.
Nasri spent around 10 hours in police custody before being released following questioning by the Financial Investigations Brigade (BRIF). No charges have been filed against the former midfielder, according to the report.
Investigators reportedly questioned Nasri in connection with his former role as a co-owner of the XS nightclub in Ivry-sur-Seine, which is linked to an investigation into suspected money laundering by an organised group.
Nasri invested several hundred thousand euros in the nightclub in 2016 while playing for English club Manchester City and later became a co-owner of the venue.
The former France national team player, who now works as a football analyst for Canal+, could be called for further questioning as the investigation continues. Authorities have not announced any criminal proceedings against him.
