Former Greek PM Alexis Tsipras to launch new political party
Former Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has confirmed plans to create a new political movement, with September suggested as a possible launch date.
Tsipras said the party will be formed “in society, from society, for society” and will initially operate outside parliament, without its own parliamentary faction, Caliber.Az reports, citing Greek media.
Tsipras ruled out the participation of current lawmakers at the start of the project.
The former SYRIZA leader noted that he is open to collaborating with former allies but emphasised that there will be “no reserved seats in the front row.”
Reflecting on his political experience, Tsipras added, “I have suffered, and I have learned – from people, from their behaviour, from my mistakes.”
