Former Israeli PM slams Netanyahu’s Iran strategy as “wishful thinking”
06 April 2026 13:58
Ehud Barak, former Prime Minister of Israel, has criticized the government’s approach to the conflict with Iran, saying that evaluations of the war’s progress have relied more on wishful thinking than on strategic planning.
Barak argued that expectations of the war—such as the collapse of the Iranian regime, the discovery of enriched uranium, and the destruction of Iran’s nuclear and missile programs—do not reflect the realities on the ground, SNN reports.
“Despite the strikes carried out, the Iranian regime remains resilient, and there is no clear program to achieve the stated objectives, including control of the Strait of Hormuz or the movement of nuclear materials,” Barak said.
