23 June 2026 10:44
Former deputy of Kyrgyzstan’s Jogorku Kenesh, Duyshon Torokulov, has been detained in the capital Bishkek.
The Pervomaisky District Court said Torokulov has been charged under Article 261 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, which covers “forming or participating in an organised criminal group," Kyrgyz media reports.
The court ordered that he be remanded in custody until June 30 pending further investigation.
Law enforcement agencies said Torokulov had previously been detained in 2021 on suspicion of corruption and alleged involvement in an attempted hostile takeover of a factory in the southern city of Osh. He is also reportedly known by the nickname “Dushka” in some sources.
