Israeli police arrest senior former army legal officials
Israeli police have arrested former Military Advocate General Maj. Gen. Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi and former Chief Military Prosecutor Col. Matan Solomosh on suspicion of obstruction of justice in connection with the leak of a video showing alleged abuse at the Sde Teiman detention facility.
According to police, the two are suspected of “leaking and other serious criminal offenses,” including attempting to cover up the incident by providing false reports to officials about the internal investigation into the leak. Both are expected to appear before the Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court on November 4 for a hearing on extending their detention, Caliber.Az reports per Israeli media.
Tomer-Yerushalmi resigned on October 31 amid mounting scrutiny over her role in the case.
Col. Solomosh, who recently concluded his service as the military’s chief prosecutor, is also under investigation for his alleged involvement in the handling of the leak and its aftermath.
