10 March 2024 13:04

Former US President Bill Clinton has arrived in Prague to participate in an international conference scheduled for March 12 on the 25th anniversary of the Czech Republic's accession to NATO, TASS reports, citing ČTK news agency.

The conference will be held in Prague Castle. It is titled "Our security is not a certainty." It will involve top Czech leaders. Clinton arrived at the invitation of the republic's president, Petr Pavel. Former NATO Secretary General Lord George Robertson is also expected to attend.

Clinton was president of the United States from 1993 to 2001. He has visited the Czech Republic several times. The last time the former White House host came to Prague was in December 2011 for the funeral of the republic's first president Vaclav Havel.

The Czech Republic joined NATO on March 12, 1999. According to opinion polls, two-thirds of the republic's citizens are satisfied with its membership in the North Atlantic Alliance, while 26% express dissatisfaction.
