Four militants killed at Tajik-Afghan border after attempted incursion
Four militants were killed at the Tajikistan-Afghanistan border after attempting to infiltrate Tajik territory.
According to the press service of Tajikistan’s State Committee for National Security (SCNS), a group of armed criminals crossed the state border near Shamsiddin Shokhin on the night of January 18, Caliber.Az reports, citing Tajik media.
The militants refused to surrender and opened fire. During the ensuing operation, they were eliminated, the SCNS said.
Weapons, ammunition, mobile phones, a radio, and a boat were found at the scene.
A criminal case has been opened under three articles of the Criminal Code, and the investigation is ongoing.
Tajik security services stated that the situation on the border is under control and that all forces and resources will be used to prevent similar violations.
