Fox News: Hamas sends letter to Trump seeking 60-day Gaza truce

Hamas has reportedly sent a letter to US President Donald Trump requesting his personal guarantee of a 60-day pause in fighting in Gaza in exchange for the immediate release of half of the hostages held by the group.

According to Fox News, citing a senior Trump administration official and a second source involved in the discussions, the letter is currently with Qatari intermediaries and is expected to be delivered to Trump this week, Caliber.Az reports. 

At present, 48 hostages remain in Gaza, with estimates suggesting that around 20 may still be alive. 

Negotiations had been progressing earlier this month but were stalled after an Israeli airstrike targeting Hamas hit Qatari capital, Doha.

Officials hope the letter could help revive talks and involve Trump directly in efforts to secure the hostages’ release and end the war, the Fox News correspondent said.

Hamas has yet to confirm this information.
