France burns as heatwave turns forests into fire zones VIDEO
Hundreds of hectares have been affected by wildfires in France on Tuesday, June 23, amid extreme heat conditions, BFMTV reports.
One of the fires broke out in the Lot-et-Garonne department in the southwest, burning through 87 hectares. More than 180 firefighters were deployed to contain the blaze.
Another fire ignited further north in a forest in the Maine-et-Loire department. Authorities said the affected area reached 85 hectares, with around 200 firefighters and multiple firefighting vehicles operating at the scene.

A separate blaze was also reported in the Indre department, where 40 hectares of farmland near a forest were destroyed. Two firefighters were injured during operations.
