France faces ammunition shortage due to military aid to Ukraine

The French army is facing a shortage of ammunition due to the transfer of several military aid packages to Ukraine.

"The ground forces are facing a shortage of 155mm shells," Le Figaro reports.

French MPs have called for a reassessment of weapons stocks in view of the likelihood of a major clash, as well as for the rebuilding of arsenals.

Both the French Ministry of Defence and arms manufacturers are aware of the problem of arms shortages. Gunpowder production for ammunition does not meet current needs, as the market has long been adapted to peacetime logic, but production will soon increase significantly.
